Language and Literature
The Department of Arts in Education (English and Literature) at SIMAD University was established in 2018 as the third academic program within the Faculty of Education. It was founded to address the growing demand for qualified English language and literature educators in Somalia, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to impact both local and international educational landscapes. The five-year program offers a balanced curriculum combining English linguistics, literature, and education studies, including courses in phonetics, syntax, literary theory, creative writing, and instructional methods. With its globally aligned curriculum and emphasis on critical thinking, cultural understanding, and teaching excellence, the department prepares graduates to serve as competent educators, language professionals, and advocates for literacy and communication in diverse settings.
